French group protest in pig masks against a halal only hamburger restaurant

pig masks in quickThe Tundra Tabloids reported a week ago on the French hamburger chain, Quick, that decided to strip pork products from its menu in order to serve the religious needs of the local population.

This inspired a protest from people angry at being force fed this sharia nonsense.

So Operation Anti-halal to Quick Villeurbanne was born.

A herd of 70 dissatisfied pigs invaded Quick Halal Villeurbanne on a Sunday morning. They protested against the decision to remove the bacon burger from a branch of Quick that only serves halal food.

KFC makes 86 restaurants halal food only

kfc big ddy advertAlan Phillips was told that his Big Daddy, a chicken burger, topped with bacon, cheese and salad was no longer on the menu.

The branch, in Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire, is one of 86 KFC restaurants which is running trials of a scheme where they sell nothing other than halal meat. Burton-on-Trent branch of KFC

The company has taken the burger off the menu because Islamic dietary law forbids Muslims to eat anything which has been prepared on the same premises as pork, which is itself strictly forbidden.

It said it was responding to increased demand for a halal menu in the areas of Britain with growing Muslim populations.

Muslims and non muslims alike unite in condemnation of KFC policy on Halal

kfc big ddy advertBritain's second biggest fast food chain hoped to woo the Islamic market by opening 86 trial outlets selling halal-only meat.

But they're now being threatened with a boycott by both Muslims and non-Muslims.

KFC's target diners insist the chickens are not being killed in the right way and say they will stay away.

And furious non-Muslim customers have set up Facebook groups protesting that the trial branches, which also ban pork, have dropped their favourite bacon-topped Big Daddy burger from menus.

Groups with names such as Against the KFC Halal Trial and No Halal at Colne KFC - referring to a branch in the Lancs town - are rapidly attracting members.

For meat to be halal, the animal must be alive when its throat is cut as a verse from the Koran is recited. KFC insists their methods meet the approval of the Halal Food Society. But Islamic leaders disagree, saying the pre-stunning of animals in the chain's mechanical process means a third are already dead at the point of slaughter. And the fact the prayer is played over a speaker means each bird it not blessed individually as it is killed.

They have now threatened to warn the UK's 2.4million Muslims not to eat KFC meat, and will meet with the fast food giant on Wednesday to question how it is killing chickens sold as halal.

A KFC spokesman said: We've worked with animal welfare organisations and the Halal Food Authority to ensure our processes fully comply. And wherever possible we've made sure our trial stores are near non- halal restaurants, to provide customers with a choice.

Five KFC restaurants drop halal menu

Thousands of regular customers complained, including Alan Phillips, who was furious when the Burton-on-Trent branch refused to serve him his favourite Big Daddy chicken burger with bacon and cheese topping.

The KFC in Burton-on-Trent is one of five reverting to the old non-halal menu after poor sales

Another that will drop the trial halal menu is the Colne takeaway in Burnley, Lancashire, where thousands of people joined a Facebook group called No Halal at Colne KFC.

Takeaways at: Accrington, Lancashire, Old Kent Road, London, and Hyde Road, Manchester, as well as Burton and Colne, will revert to full menus on 19 July.

A spokesperson for KFC blamed low demand. He said: We introduced our trial in areas where we expected a large demand for halal restaurants, and as with any trial, we continually evaluate results, and adapt as necessary. There are always areas which are more successful than others, and despite positive feedback, a few stores haven't met our forecasts, so for that reason, we have decided to stop trialling halal in five restaurants as of 19th July. We are continuing our trial in other areas and are still offering halal in 96 restaurants, and will review the trial over the coming months.

Ham and pepperoni ban reversed at Domino's pizzas

dominos pizza logoDomino's Pizza, which was among the first fast food outlets in Britain to serve halal-only takeaways, has ditched the menu after poor sales.

The chain enraged customers 18 months ago by completely removing pork from its pizzas in favour of halal-only meat at its branch in Hall Green, Birmingham.

Pizza fans in the Muslim area of Hall Green, Birmingham who were previously refused service when asking for a ham and pineapple or pepperoni pizza can now order their favourite toppings again after the store's decision.

Domino's Pizza have also reverted to conventional menus at the other two branches where they trialled halal-only menus for Muslim customers in Bradford and Blackburn.

Halal only hamburger restaurants a success in France

quick logoA major fast-food chain has said it would extend the number of halal only restaurants in France, after a controversial pilot project in February proved a success.

Some politicians reacted angrily to Quick's announcement earlier this year of its first halal-only branches, saying the chain had deprived non-Muslims of a right to standard burgers and promoted social divisions.

But the Belgian chain said it would switch 14 more of its French branches to serve only halal meat.
